Basic Bread Machine Recipe

A basic recipe that can be easily adapted. Make it white, wholemeal, multigrain, rye or whatever flour mix you prefer.

Serves: 750g loaf
  • 1⅓ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3¼ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  1. Add the ingredients to the bread pan in the order suggested in your bread machine manual (for most machines, the liquid goes in first, followed by the dry ingredients).  Insert the pan into the machine.
  2. Select the best setting based on what flour you have used. (See notes above).
  3. Press 'Start'
  4. Once finished, remove the loaf from the pan and allow to cool on a wire rack. Or just leave it to cool in the pan (I do this all the time :))
